Northridge Building – Review & Plans

With the expansion of Fairway View which left the Northridge building vacant, the Ortonville EDA offered to facilitate a process to review options for this building. History of the senior housing project which left Northridge vacant. The Ortonville EDA built the original Fairway View complex (12 independent, 16 assisted living & 6 memory care units) in 2004. OAHS expanded the complex which opened in 2017  – 34 catered living units with an additional 51-bed skilled (nursing home) complex consisting of 3 pod or home-styled sections. The Northridge Building Review Process. A Committee was formed:  Gene Hausauer, Kim Sykora, Ashley Berger, David Rogers, Kevin Benson, Becky Parker, Scott Simonitch, Jason Mork, Char Grossman and Vicki Oakes The Committee engaged Hasslen Construction and an Architect (paid for by the City and OAHS) to review all of the City buildings/spaces to provide an estimated budget of the property needs over the next few years and to review the Northridge building for structural needs and the costs to upgrade the building to accommodate the City departments. Jr-Sr Golf Tournament

Awesome turnout for the 2018 Jr -Sr. Golf Tournament!  Mary Ross organizes this tournament every year – and this year she received some recruitment help from Summer Rec Coach volunteer, Isaiah Longnecker!  They had 25 teams – with some traveling as far as from Melrose, Nisswa, and St. Peter!  (The Ortonville Independent will carry the full story!) Thank you to Adam of Off the Green for donating the meal!  (very nice!) Video of the awards presented. Thank you to Shana Buttke for taking the photos! Some random shots… … and some more

The Information Center Updates

Thanks to the City Crew, the old information sign & kiosk have been removed!  We now have a clean slate to work with… next, what should we do with this great little piece of property as you enter Ortonville’s downtown? The property is owned by the Ortonville EDA, the Big Stone Lake Area Chamber has always kept the information up-to-date in the kiosk; the Ortonville Kiwanis have trimmed bushes when needed and decorated the property for Christmas (and more!) as one of their community projects;  Craig Randleman tended to the clock that was above the kiosk; a group of ladies (Downtown Renovation Committee -DRC) – Wanda Berry, Rachel Davis, Khadija, Trish Kramer and Becky Parker dug out and planted new flower beds — a little extra shout out to Wanda Berry who continued to check in and pull weeds when needed  not only at this location but also the triangle across from Artie’s Bait & Tackle/Subway area throughout the year;  and the City Crew kept the grass mowed.  How is that for community support!? Thanks …
